Welcome to the G0POY site.

I use this site for general development, and other odds and ends, so it is not updated very often. You might find a few things of interest on this site so please have a look around.

Navigation is fairly easy, the main menu above (blue boxes) will taske you to various parts of the site. Where there are more pages, you will find a previous ... next control at the bottom of each page.

The Home menu item will return here.

June 2022-

This site is now hosted on ICUK servers. I have used a conferencing system (cix) owned by ICUK for several decades and I know the service levels they provide. So I have every hope that this move will solve the problems caused by the previous host.

This move was necessary, due to the previous host TSO, who to be fair caused no problems at all untill now.
They have made changes to their service and this required changes to DNS Nameservers, which simply do not work in the same way as before, and they just stopped supporting the SSL certificate I used. This was the well know "Let's Encrypt" certificets. This worked flawlessly, as it auto renewed with no action on my part. Now they simply don't support it, and worst of all did not inform me.

Obviously I am not best pleased with them...

The Linux system has been changed to Debian

June 2019 -

This is a rewrite of the Web site, hopefully making it a bit easier to manage. I gave up on MS Windows quite some years ago, and I now use SUSE Linux as my main workstation . The site was originally produced with a very very early copy of Dreamweaver - Version 0.9 which was given away free on a PC magazine cover disk !   ( .net magazine Jan 2000 )

Linux has been rather poorly served in respect of Web Authoring software, the only real active one I could find was BlueGriffon, and that's only supported on Ubuntu.

One link that a search threw up was for wysiwygwebbuilder, that was a Windows program, however I spotted a  line on the download page "Looking for Mac or Linux Web Design software?"

Well, that led me to the Quick and Easy Web Builder software. It's commercial, but reasonably priced at $49.99. At the time I looked they were having a Spring sale and the software was available for $33.49. The software is active for 30 days anyway, so you can give it a try. However after a few hours I had the basic page layout and menu system working, so I bought the product there and then.

It's NOT a hand coded type of site builder, it's all drag and drop, which is what I wanted. So if you are looking for some Web building software, it's well worth a look.  Click on the Quick and Easy logo in the header to go to their  website.

Safety:

I detest safety statements, they are so condecending, so to get it over with quickly, here is the short and sharp version.

There are sections of this site that describe things that are potentionally dangerous, so unless you are trying for a top spot in the Darwin Awards :

You have been warned - don't complain to me if things go wrong.
